Firefox 17 is Mozilla's step to dance a tango with Facebook, as many of its customers required. Mozilla has just announced the inclusion of the Facebook API in today's release of Firefox 17. That API has been tested in the beta version of Firefox since October 22, but it seems it passed quickly the examination procedure.

Firefox Gets Social On Its Seventh Version
The first feature, that you will love about Firefox 17 is Facebook Messenger, if you are addicted to social networks. This tool, not only allows on-page chatting, but also displays notifications, friend requests and shows the top stories of the day. As you can imagine, Mozilla worked closely with Facebook in building the API and at first sight, it seems to be even more attractive than Bing integration.
Why Facebook and not Twitter? Mozilla's chief of innovation, Todd Simpson, explained the reason behind this decision. According to studies over users' behavior online, obviously the usage of Facebook has been increasing year-over-year, for good reasons, so Mozilla thought it could make the experience a lot better, by reshaping some of Facebook features to be taken with you as you're browsing.

Firefox Gets Social On Its Seventh Version
This is hardly the first time that a browser maker has attempted to integrate social networking into the app, and not always with success. Flock, for instance, went through several incarnations of social media, but failed. Firefox 17 also brings some other attractive features, such as Click-to-Play Plugins, designed for your security. This apps prevents vulnerable or out-of-date plugins from automatically loading, quite useful nowadays, when you don't pay attention to background activities.
